Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Peter Mielech. I’m an Asian American and third generation woodworker that hand makes unique, wearable art out of found and upcycled wood with resin.
What do you think sets your designs apart from others?
Although woodworking and resin crafting are hugely popular right now, I have yet to find anyone locally who who uses the combination to create jewelry in exactly the same way. I’m also one of a few men I’ve found making jewelry in the area, which I think gives me a unique perspective.
Have you always been passionate about art and design?
Yes, as a child I was always found drawing, creating, and building, which led me to a degree in studio art and a 20+ year career in graphic design. Now that I’ve shifted my work into jewelry making I still use all my experiences of art and design.
